Stories by Children returns for 2021!
This submission period will remain OPEN until Lockdown 3 ends.
Please read below for more details:
Given the current lockdown and the difficulties faced by parents, we wanted to offer an outlet for kids’ creativity and encourage them to get writing short stories! We’re accepting submissions from anyone, anywhere in the world aged 6 – 18.
Short stories should be original work, written in English, and no longer than 1000 words. There is no minimum word count. Submissions are limited to one per entrant.
Please read the guidelines and use the submission form below.
We’ll be looking for:
- A strong sense of beginning, middle, and end.
- Good vocabulary.
- Powerful imagery.
The following should also be included in the document:
- Name
- Age
- Country & region (e.g. Suffolk, England or Chengdu, China)
- First language, if different from English.
- Stories should be in a regular font (e.g. Times New Roman) & size 12.
- File name must NOT contain an apostrophe.
NOTE: Age and first language will be taken into account.
Each selected story will be published online and we will also send parents £10 via PayPal, which we encourage them to spend on books for their children.
Please note that due to limited human resources and budget, we can only respond to those who are successful, but we encourage everyone to have a go. If you’re able to, please consider supporting us with a donation.
NOTE: file name must NOT contain an apostrophe.
E.g. The File name for a story titled Tom’s Horse should be Toms Horse. This is due to a small technical matter with our submission form.
