After a challenging year, TSS is seeking a new Managing Editor to run the journal. The position will last for one year, starting from 1st February 2021 and running until 31st January 2022, with the possibility to extend.
This is a volunteer role, but it comes with a £500 thank you gift paid at the end of the year, via PayPal.
There is also an accompanying budget of £1,500 to go towards the running of the journal.
The £1,500 is at the disposal of the Managing Editor and can be used in any way they see fit, including but not limited to:
- Paying contributors
- Brining on board new team members
- Running new projects / ideas
- Social Media & Marketing
We’re looking for someone who has the time and passion to run an online literary journal and excited by the idea of finding new voices and trying out new ideas. In the first few months, the ME will work closely with the outgoing editor who will also offer assistance throughout the year as needed.
Key Tasks
- Liaising with other editors & expanding the team as required
- Scheduling submission periods for new writing
- Working with writers and arranging a publication schedule
Expected workload is in the region of 5 hours a week, although it is very much up to the Managing Editor how much time they give to the journal.

- Editing for an online literary journal
- WordPress
- Knowledge of and/or publication of short fiction.
